Introduction

For starters, I would like to thank you for joining or viewing our forum. To give you a little background (If you have no read the tabbed table above) we are a role play site that specifies in all genre forms.

This handbook has been created to serve as a resource to the Database. Used properly, it can be your greatest resource for self help. Our staff members may frequently point this handbook out to you, if they know the answer to your question is within this topic. I urge you to explore the site on your own, as well as start your own self help thread for newbies that we might feature within our handbook.

I hope this handbook helps you! If not, please make use of our staff, or even myself. We are always happy to help!

Rules

If this is your first time on portray I recommend that you read the detailed version of the rules with more of an over-all explanation.


Please make sure you have over-viewed the Proboards TOS as well as the Community Guidelines

Keep it PG-13
Keep in mind that there are eyes of all ages on this site, so post the appropriate language, images and links. If you have a question about whether or not an image is appropriate, message a staff member for confirmation.

If you are unsure of the RPE, please consult the Newbie Board.

Post in English
I'm not going to use a translator to read your posts, neither will anyone else. Please post in English as best as you can.

Thread Limit
When you create your thread you are forming a bond with this forum, once you have created a thread it is your job to keep it alive and well. If you realize someone has not posted, send them a PM or email. It is also your job to recruit and find people for your RP. If you fail to do so, please ask a moderator to move your RP to the Archive. If you wish to revive an old role play that failed, visit the Archive.

100% Legal Material
Please do not download, post, or use any "free" or any warez program.

Talking in the Cbox
Please do not spam the cbox with ideas for a role play, if you have an idea, there is a proper place to put it. Also, do not impersonate anyone in the cbox. We can find your I.P. and ban you from the box.

Spam
Everyone has a sense of what is on and off topic, please keep that in mind as you post throughout the forum. For example, do not write something about loving iced cream in an out of character sense in a fantasy role play. Posting spam in the game area, or general conversation is considered accepted.

Images
Please do not post images that distort or stretch the screen. We are trying to keep the site looking good, so if you violate this your image will be deleted. Try to keep the images in the following proportions: 230x630.

Private Messages
1. Respect everyone within the posting system. No harassment will be tolerated.
2. Do not provide links to any site in Private messages
3. Do not send SPAM to the users
4. You may use adult material in personal messages.
5. Keep in mind there are under aged individuals on this site!

No Harassment of any kind
Treat everyone on this site with the utmost respect. No harassment will be tolerated. This includes flaming, racial batter, and bullying. If I see you are doing this, I will probably embarrass you, and then ban you forever.

Follow the Board Rules
If a board or topic has specific rules to follow, please follow them. All thread masters have the right to remove a user from their RP, and you must respect that if it happens to you. If you throw a childish fit, you could get banned.

Recycling
I have no problem with you recycling a role play from another site, however make sure that you give that site credit or the role player credit if it is asked from either the site of the user. Reviving role plays is a way to get people interested without taking much time, however, do not make a habit of using only recycled RPs.

Disciplinary Action
All staff members have the right to warn, ban, or delete your account if you disregard the rules above. Respect your staff and do not argue with them if they proceed to give you a warning or ban, they are here to help, not hurt. All of the punishments given by staff are final decisions; do not try to butter up another staff member to get your way.

Be Respectful to the Staff
I have currently had problems with some of you PMing me asking me to change something for you. Well that will not happen. I'm going to start cracking down in more than one way. Do not expect favors from the staff. Submit non-threatening suggestions, and leave it at that. If you do not like something we or another member is doing because you are use to another site being another way, then get off Portray.

Our Rights
We as staff have the authority to change the rules as much as we want to see that the site is remaining in our opinion well organized. If there are problems, we will be adjusting the rules promptly after the problem has occurred.[/center]

Staff Requirements / Applications

I'm going to make this really simple, if you want to be on staff - then you need to be willing to perform the necessary tasks. If you can not comply with the 'requirements' of the position in which you are applying, don't bother sending in your application.

Staff Requirements:

Global Moderator

• Online and active on Portray 3 - 5 days a week
  
• Post count of 115+
  
• Must be Familiar with the site
  
• Needs to be able to ban/warn users.
  
• Has to check their assigned board frequently.
  
• Must be able to oversee the moderators
  
• Must be willing to occasionally help advertise by word of mouth/other sites.
  

Moderator

• Must be able to warn/possibly ban
  
• Must be online 3 - 5 days a week, and active on Portray
  
• Should have 35+ posts.
  
• Should be familiar with the site
  
• Has to check their assigned board frequently.

Can we have an board for users that are 18 or older?
No. It is against our proboards terms of service. However, if you send me a message, I may be able to direct you somewhere.

Where can I find information on how to role-play?
The best way I can tell you to learn how to role-play is to jump head first into a thread, and see how others do it. However, if you really need help then you have come to the right place! We have a collection of guides in the Database that our users have created for your use. (Pending)
